ABOUT WARBURTON

Warburton is located 72 kilometers (45 miles) east of Melbourne’s core business center in Victoria, Australia. The Shire of Yarra Ranges is its local government area. Warburton has a population of 2,012 people according to the 2016 census.

Lilydale, the last major town before Warburton, has polar histories, with one claiming that Hodgkinson named the town after Lilly de Castella, daughter of Lieutenant-Colonel Joseph Anderson, one of the first nominated members of the Victorian Legislative Assembly in the 1850s, and another claiming that it was named by public servant clerk John Hardy who heard convicts singing while building a road. At the turn of the century, the town drew the richness of Federation tourism. It was a honeymooner’s paradise.
